EXPLORING TIMELESS CHRISTMAS TRADITIONS

As children, we look forward to the holidays all year long, excitedly anticipating opening gifts, spending time with loved ones, and experiencing the magic surrounding this special season. Little do we know that these treasured times will turn into timeless traditions as we age, transforming into reflections and nostalgia. 

The theme of holiday tradition is what inspired me to launch With Love, Crystal, as I work to empower memories families will cherish through my custom holiday decorating services. It’s my goal to bring that magical touch to clients’ homes during the holiday season, inspiring traditions that last a lifetime.

In my own life, I have so many fond memories of decorating for the holidays and celebrating with my family. Year after year, I decorated the Christmas tree with ornaments from my grandparent’s market. As a child, I had no appreciation for the fine craftsmanship and intricate designs I see now. Instead, I hated how fragile they were, always breaking a few each year. Similarly, I often reflect on the experience of throwing silver tinsel on the tree, covering each and every inch. At the end of the holiday season, it was impossible to get every piece off, which ended up later serving as a happy reminder of the year before.

I still remember the faux tree my family had when I was a little girl. Each branch was color coded on the tip for easy assembly. The process of putting it together became a time-consuming annual tradition and I swore I would never have one of my own. Today, I have 7 faux trees and my collection only continues to grow! 

My point is, you often don’t realize you’re making holiday traditions until years have gone by and you're looking back with a smile. Even now, as I work to actively create joyful Christmas traditions within my own family, I know it will be those small bits and pieces of shared moments together that will stand out in my own kids’ minds as they look back on their childhood. 

For me, that’s the beauty of the holiday season and exactly why I built my business. I took my own experience of making popcorn garlands piece by piece and enjoying a potluck buffet on Christmas Day, and turned it into a service that supports families on their journey to creating priceless Christmas traditions. No matter the design inspiration, interior space or type of decor, I’m passionate about curating holiday decorations in a way that resonates with each client’s unique story. Why? That’s what molding timeless Christmas traditions is all about.
